"In June of 2010, my wife and I found ourselves loading up everything we owned, selling our home and relocating to a tiny apartment near Detroit, Michigan. Though I was more than happy with the ministry at my previous church in southern Georgia, God tugged on my heart, literally pulling me northward, until I landed with a wonderful group of students at a place called Lifechurch." Pratt adds, "The only thing I knew for sure was that they needed me, and I needed them, and that we were brought together at just the right moment."

"Still, it hasn't been easy, especially for my wife. Starting over hurts, and Satan knows how and when to hit the hardest. He loves to find us isolated, assuming we are weaker because we are alone. But it doesn't have to be that way. God also loves to find us alone, free from distractions and looking upward to Him for our answers. "

How God Revealed Himself

"We have a wonderful church family that we are still getting to know." Pratt admits. "God provided a house which helps my wife and I to finally feel as if this can become home. He has used this experience to draw us closer to each other, and of course, to Him."

Advice for Others

"Surrender is tough. It means saying, very simply and innocently, 'I'm Yours. Whatever that means, wherever that takes me...whatever that requires. My life is not my own, and when it all comes down to it, You are all I need.'"

Pratt offers this advice for others who have found themselves on a similar path. "Focus on what is good, find the positives, and recognize that seasons come and go. Nothing is meant to last forever, and when God needs us elsewhere, we must be willing to go."

Strength Scripture

1 Cor 7:22-23 And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ. God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.

Bio

Dan Pratt is the Pastor of Students at Lifechurch Canton in Canton, Michigan.
